How To Travel From Singapore To Malaysia By Supernice Express (Supernice Grassland) Bus From Golden Mile Complex To Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur From The Tuas Checkpoint

There are plenty of people traveling from Singapore to Malaysia every single day. Chances are you might be planning your travel too, but are confused by the number of options available.

You can travel by car, bus, train, airplane, etc. from Singapore to Malaysia, but if you are looking to travel cheap and comfortably, the Supernice Express bus is the way to go. You can also bring along your luggage and keep your bags in the baggage storage space in the bus. You also need not worry about immigration as the bus driver stops at immigration checkpoints for everyone to clear immigration.

There are many bus operators operating many buses from different locations in Singapore to Malaysia every single day at different times.

In this post, we will discuss about the Supernice Grassland bus that boards from Golden Mile Complex in Singapore and takes you to Super Nice Express bus stop that’s opposite Berjaya Times Square.

Booking Your Ticket

The easiest way to book your bus ticket is by visiting redBus’ official website or by downloading its app. All you need to do is enter your source, destination, date of travel and return date if you would like a return ticket.

Start typing Singapore in the source box and you will be shown a number of pick-up points. Since we are discussing the bus that departs from Golden Mile Complex in this post, go ahead and choose Golden Mile Complex. Ofcourse, you can choose a different pick-up point depending on where you would like to board the bus from.

Start typing Kuala Lumpur in the destination box and you will be shown a number of drop-off points. TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan) is quite a popular drop-off point as it is the main bus station in Kuala Lumpur. For our discussion, go ahead and choose Berjaya Times Square.

Select a date and a return date if you would like to book a return ticket.

You will see a lot of different bus companies along with different departing times and prices. Supernice Grassland is one of the top rated bus companies that does not cost too much, its ticket price is very reasonable (SGD 32 as of September 2022).

Go ahead and choose time you prefer. View the seats they have available and select your preferred seat. Proceed with the payment. You will then receive your bus ticket that looks like this in the redBus app:

Boarding The Bus In Singapore

On the date of departure, head to Golden Mile Complex. When you reach there, you would probably see your Supernice Express bus standing there in the corner of the Golden Mile Complex in the driveway right about here where the red arrow points:

You might also see buses from other companies standing there or you might not see any bus at all. So if you arrive way ahead of your time, you likely won’t find your bus here but the bus will depart from here only.

Next, head to where it says “Grassland Express & Tours Pte” on the map. This is a short walk (hardly a few steps) from the bus stop and is located in the Golden Mile Complex but faces the road, so you wouldn’t actually need to go inside the complex.

Look for the Supernice Express office around that location. Show your redBus booking details to the person working there in the office, they would check your details and hand you over a printed ticket.

This printed ticket is necessary for you to board the bus as it the only ticket the bus driver accepts. The bus driver will not accept your redBus ticket on your phone.

Show your printed ticket to the bus driver, load your luggage in the baggage space, head inside the bus, look for your seat number and take a seat.

Inside The Bus

The bus is fully air-conditioned and there are curtains for you to draw to cover the windows. This is how the bus looks from inside:

The seats are very spacious. The seats actually feel more like a couch. There is also luggage compartment above in the bus for you to store smaller bags.

There’s enough leg room (much more than what you find in airplanes) for you to travel comfortably for hours in the bus. This image should give you an idea:

They provide a small bottle of water for each passenger. It is right in front of you in the net holder (behind the seat that’s ahead of you).

They also have Wi-Fi in their buses, and they also provide the password for you to connect. However, their Wi-Fi doesn’t work in Singapore, it only works as soon as you reach the Malaysian border.

There’s a USB port on each seat, and it’s located near the hand-rest. You can use it to plug in your cables to charge your phones.

The seats are also reclinable. So if you’re not feeling comfortable enough, you can always recline your seat.

Crossing The Singapore Border

About 30-45 minutes in your journey, you reach the Singapore border.

The bus takes you to the Tuas Checkpoint where you are required to exit Singapore border.

Upon reaching the checkpoint, the bus will stop and the driver will ask everyone to get down and clear the immigration. So you have to get down at this point and head inside the building where you will exit Singapore.

You do not need to take any of your luggage with you. You only need your passport.

Follow the signs for passport control. There are automated machines where you simply have to scan your passport yourself and clear immigration. If there’s an issue, the machine will display a message and ask you to proceed to the manual immigration counter.

After you’re done, you have to exit from another door that’s right ahead of you after you clear the immigration.

Your bus would have moved to this point where you are exiting the building and you should be able to locate your bus on the big screen that’s above you after you exit the checkpoint building. On the screen, your bus number and the space where it’s parked are displayed.

If there are not many buses parked, you can also locate your bus directly by just walking a little ahead to the parking spaces. There are not many parking spaces, may be around 10.

There are also washrooms if you would like to use after you exit the checkpoint building

The bus will wait for everyone to clear the immigration. The bus will not start unless everyone has boarded and the driver also does a head count before beginning to depart.

Singapore To Malaysia

After everyone has boarded the bus after clearing Singapore immigration, the bus takes you to the Malaysian border through this bridge:

Tuas Checkpoint Second Link Bridge Singapore To Malaysia

This bridge is known as the Second Link Bridge.

You reach the Malaysian border crossing station in about 5 minutes after departing from the Tuas Checkpoint.

Crossing The Malaysia Border

After crossing the bridge, you will reach Sultan Abu Bakar Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS). This is the name of the Malaysia border post and it’s located in Gelang Patah in the state of Johor in Malaysia.

Upon reaching the immigration building, the bus will stop and the driver will ask everyone to get down and clear the immigration. So you have to get down and head inside the building where you will enter Malaysia.

The driver will this time ask you to carry all your luggage with you and will open the luggage compartment for everyone to take their bags with them into the building.

Follow the signs for passport control. The Malaysian border officials will stamp your passport here and you will legally enter Malaysia.

After the passport control, head towards customs. Here, you have to put all of your bags in the x-ray scanner.

After your bags are scanned, you can take your bags with you and exit from the door that’s after the customs.

Congratulations! You’d have entered Malaysia now.

The bus would have moved forward closer to the exit gate of the customs area. Put all of your bags back inside the luggage compartment, head back inside the bus and take your seat.

Ming Ang Express Bus Stop

After about an hour and a half, the bus will stop at the Ming Ang Express Bus Stop for about 30 minutes.

Here you can get down and stretch for a bit if you’re tired of sitting. You’ll also find many restaurants at this bus stop. So you can also grab something to eat.

If you’re looking for a Malaysian sim card, you can get one here. There’s a small phone shop located at the entrance of this complex where you will enter from after you get down from the bus. This shop sells sim cards and you can get one here.

Arriving In Kuala Lumpur

After about 3-4 hours depending on the traffic, you will reach Kuala Lumpur.

The bus will first make a stop at the TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan), which is the main bus station in Kuala Lumpur.

About 15-20 minutes after that, the bus will make its second and final stop at the Super Nice Express bus stop that’s opposite to the Berjaya Times Square.

From there, you can take a Grab to reach your final destination.

Conclusion

So there you go. Cheap, comfortable, simple and straightforward.

This should have clarified any doubts you must have had about how you can travel from Singapore to Malaysia by bus.
